Synthius Terms and Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: June 18, 2026
Service operator: Synthius
Contact: support@synthius.ai
These Terms govern your use of Synthius. By creating an account or using Synthius, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the AI Provider Notice shown in the app, and any feature-specific terms.
1. What Synthius Is
Synthius is a private, user-directed personal memory and self-understanding tool. It helps you organize your own uploaded materials into structured memory, biography, preferences, life events, work context, communication style, psychometrics, and a user-centric relationship map.
Synthius is not a tool for making legal, medical, financial, employment, housing, credit, education, insurance, immigration, criminal-justice, or other consequential decisions. Synthius does not provide professional advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Synthius. You must not use Synthius if you are legally prohibited from doing so or if your use would violate applicable law.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for:
- keeping your login credentials secure;
- maintaining accurate account information;
- all activity under your account;
- managing connected sources and AI provider accounts;
- reviewing and correcting generated outputs before relying on them.
Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Your Content
"Your Content" means anything you upload, connect, enter, import, generate, or ask Synthius to process. This includes chats, files, notes, emails, transcripts, social exports, messages, prompts, outputs, source references, and generated memory.
You keep your rights in Your Content. You grant Synthius the limited permission needed to host, process, analyze, transform, display, export, and delete Your Content to provide the service you request.
You represent that:
- the data you upload is your own data, data you are authorized to use, or data you have another lawful basis to process;
- you will not upload data primarily to profile, monitor, expose, harass, or make decisions about another person;
- your uploads and use of Synthius will comply with applicable law, platform terms, confidentiality obligations, employment obligations, and intellectual property rights;
- you will not submit content that you are legally prohibited from sharing or processing.
You are solely responsible for Your Content and for your decision to upload, connect, import, process, generate, use, export, or share it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, if you use Synthius in violation of these Terms, including by profiling another person or uploading data without the required rights or lawful basis, you are solely responsible for the resulting legal obligations, claims, damages, regulatory issues, or disputes.
5. Third-Party Information
Synthius understands that personal archives often mention other people. You may use Synthius to understand your own life and relationships from your own perspective.
You may not use Synthius to create a standalone profile, dossier, psychometric report, sensitive inference, risk score, or behavioral analysis about another person without that person's consent or another valid lawful basis.
If you do this despite the written prohibition in these Terms and the persona-creation consent screen, you act outside the permitted use of Synthius and are solely responsible for that misuse to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Allowed examples:
- "Alice appears often in my work chats."
- "I often discuss Project X with Alice."
- "Alice is part of my close professional circle."
- "My conversations with Alice often involve planning and support."
Prohibited examples:
- "Build Alice's personality profile."
- "Infer Alice's politics, sexuality, health, religion, mental state, or vulnerabilities."
- "Score Alice's reliability or risk."
- "Use several people's messages to investigate Alice."
- "Upload Alice's files or chats to understand Alice rather than me."
6. AI Providers
Synthius may process data using AI providers selected by you or supported by us, currently OpenAI and Google Gemini. Provider availability, model behavior, retention, safety filters, and terms may change.
If you bring your own API key or provider account, you are responsible for complying with that provider's terms and settings. Synthius may refuse provider configurations that use uploaded content for model training, lack appropriate data-processing terms, are not available in your region, or create unacceptable privacy risk.
7. Prohibited Uses
You must not use Synthius to:
- create a profile, memory, social graph, biography, or psychometric analysis primarily about someone other than yourself;
- infer sensitive traits about other people, including health, mental health, politics, religion, sexuality, sex life, race, ethnicity, union membership, financial hardship, criminal allegations, immigration status, or precise location patterns;
- stalk, harass, dox, intimidate, manipulate, or surveil any person;
- upload hacked, stolen, scraped, purchased, leaked, or unlawfully obtained data;
- upload another person's private chats, emails, files, diary, medical records, therapy records, legal records, school records, employment records, or financial records without authority;
- upload data primarily about children or minors without explicit approval from Synthius and a lawful basis;
- use Synthius for employee monitoring, hiring, promotion, termination, productivity scoring, or workplace emotion inference;
- use Synthius to decide eligibility for credit, insurance, housing, education, healthcare, government benefits, immigration, employment, or essential services;
- create social scores or rankings that cause detrimental treatment of people;
- use outputs for medical diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, financial advice, or therapy;
- identify a person through biometric data, face recognition, voice identification, or similar means unless a specific feature has been approved in writing;
- bypass safety controls, rate limits, access controls, privacy controls, or provider restrictions;
- reverse engineer the service or use Synthius outputs to train a competing model unless expressly permitted;
- violate intellectual property rights, confidentiality duties, platform terms, export controls, sanctions, or applicable law;
- submit malware, credentials, secrets, or data that would create a security risk;
- misrepresent AI-generated outputs as verified facts about a person.
8. Sensitive Data Rules
You should not upload sensitive data unless it is necessary for the feature you choose and you are comfortable having it processed. You can exclude files, chats, named people, and topics.
Synthius may block, redact, suppress, or refuse to generate outputs involving:
- third-party sensitive traits;
- children;
- medical diagnosis or treatment;
- legal conclusions;
- intimate sexual content;
- criminal allegations;
- high-risk decision-making;
- content likely to cause harm.
9. User Controls
Where available, you can:
- delete uploaded sources;
- delete generated memory;
- hide or delete a person from your relationship map;
- choose or disconnect AI providers;
- export your data;
- delete your account.
Deletion may be subject to limited retention for security, legal, backup, and abuse-prevention purposes as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. AI Output Limitations
Synthius outputs are generated by probabilistic AI systems and extraction pipelines. They may be incomplete, outdated, biased, or wrong. Synthius may infer patterns from limited evidence. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting outputs.
Synthius does not guarantee that any memory, trait, score, summary, relationship label, or recommendation is accurate.
11. Suspension and Enforcement
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created legal or safety risk, misused third-party data, abused the service, or exposed Synthius or others to harm.
We may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms. We may preserve limited information when needed to investigate abuse, comply with law, or protect rights and safety.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information. You must read it before uploading content.
13. Third-Party Services
Synthius may integrate with third-party services such as AI providers, storage providers, messaging platforms, payment processors, or import tools. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for making sure you may connect, import, and process data from those services.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will provide notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
